"Romeo and Juliet"
This concert celebrated sixty years with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Daniel Meyer as PYSO welcomed back alumni to come play in our season finale. Opening with Brahms' powerful Symphony No. 3, the orchestra performed one of the most beautifully crafted symphonies of the Romantic era. PYSO Concerto Competition Winner Thomas Hu took on the challenges of Sibelius in his daring Violin Concerto, and to complete the festivities, the alumni joined their young colleagues to create a "super-orchestra" in
Tchaikovsky's brilliant musical interpretation of Shakespeare's classic Romeo & Juliet.
