Concerto Competition
January 13, 2008
The first place winner of PYSO's concerto competition traditionally performs with PYSO on its spring concert. This year’s PYSO Concerto Competition will take place on January 13, 2008 in the afternoon at Heinz Hall.
Depending on the number of students auditioning, we may need to limit the
length of time for each performer. Please indicate below whether your
piece has movements or sections. You may not be able to perform the
entire piece at the audition.
While practice rooms may be available for warming up and rehearsal, there
will not be any time for rehearsing in the audition room.
Please note:
- The competition is open to all current PYSO members.
- You can audition on the instrument that you play
in PYSO, or on other instrument(s) that you play, including piano.
- Memorization is required.
- Piano accompaniment is required.
- Audition should not exceed 10 or 15 minutes in length.
If your piece is longer and comprised of movements, you should choose which
part of the piece you would like to perform.
- Orchestral accompaniment parts must be available.
- Previous first-place winners are not eligible to
re-audition.
- We will make every attempt to accommodate your scheduling
request, but cannot guarantee that all requests can be met.
- Please attach a short (4 or 5 sentences) bio.
